An activity based on an authentic French song (Youtube link included)
Lyrics+ activity. Great for reinforcement on jobs or as a cultural treat!
This can easily take a whole lesson for independent work. My pupils loved it!
4 reading comprehensions exercises from “Les vacances du Petit Nicolas.” Perfect for teaching the topic of holidays.
The short stories reinforce all vocabulary seen (places, activities, opinions, suitcase items, use of different tenses). I have selected extracts and added a series of questions.
As this is an authentic text, I would aim these activities for a higher group (from year 9 to year 11).
Great to include a bit of French culture and literacy in your lessons.
I have added a link to the trailer of the film (adapted from the short stories). Could be a good way of introducing the topic or as a way to engage pupils before the reading comprehension.
**Timers and answers are included. **

This resource includes:
-a powerpoint about the film (starter activity, speaking activities, French synopsis, introduction to the film/characters)
Notes under each slide for more directions.
-a worksheet for students to complete whilst watching the film. (I have created activities for every 15/20 minutes of the film, you could then pause and check answers if you wish- minutes are indicated at the top of each exercise)
-Answers for the worksheet.
The powerpoint can also be used or adapted after watching the film to discuss characters.
This was created for a KS4 GCSE class (Starter focusing on new GCSE exam) However, this can also be used for a year 9 group.
This is for a two hour lesson (powerpoint-30 minutes + 90 minutes for the film) but could be extended with discussions after watching the film.
Synopsis-Benoit, the new kid at school, is bullied by a gang of arrogant boys. Determined not to be pushed around, Benoit organizes a big party, but only three students turn up. What if this bunch of losers was to be the best gang ever?
For higher ability students you can also discuss the title:
nouveau (adj) means new but as a noun it means "the new kid/boy"
